Courtroom Chic: Legally Blonde The Musical Is Bringing Pink Power To Nottingham

Written by Katie Barr

Get ready for pink, power suits and a serious dose of feel-good fun. Legally Blonde The Musical is heading back on the road in a brand-new Made at Curve production, bringing Elle Woods’ iconic transformation from fashion-loving sorority girl to Harvard legal force to theatres across the UK and Ireland in 2026.

Based on Amanda Brown’s novel and the beloved 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Coolidge, the musical has become a firm favourite for audiences who love their theatre bright, bold and full of heart. With original music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and a book by Heather Hach, Legally Blonde takes everything audiences adore about the film — the humour, the romance, the pink wardrobe, the bend and snap — and turns it into a high-energy stage celebration of confidence, friendship and refusing to be underestimated. At the centre of the story is Elle Woods, the ultimate “It Girl” whose life appears to revolve around fashion, friends and her seemingly perfect future with boyfriend Warner. But when Warner decides she is not “serious” enough for him and heads off to Harvard Law School, Elle does the only logical thing: she follows him there. What begins as a mission to win back love soon becomes something far more important, as Elle discovers her own intelligence, ambition and sense of purpose.

Leading the production as Elle Woods is Amber Davies, whose stage credits include Pretty Woman and The Great Gatsby, alongside her television appearances on Strictly Come Dancing. Joining her is musical theatre and TikTok star Hannah Lowther, known for SIX and Heathers, who will play Margot and alternate as Elle at selected performances. The cast also includes George Crawford as Emmett, Karen Mavundukure as Paulette, Adam Cooper as Callahan, Jamie Chatterton as Warner and Annabelle Terry as Vivienne. With a cast packed full of talent from productions including Hamilton, Grease, Newsies, A Chorus Line and Stranger Things: The First Shadow, this new tour promises to bring plenty of sparkle, sharp comedy and theatrical energy to Elle’s world.

Behind the scenes, the production is directed by Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, whose recent work includes Kinky Boots, The Wizard of Oz and Calamity Jane. Choreography comes from Leah Hill, with musical supervision and additional arrangements by Matt Spencer-Smith. Set design is by Colin Richmond, costume design by Tom Rogers, and wigs, hair and make-up design by Sam Cox — so audiences can expect a production that looks just as fabulous as it sounds. Of course, Legally Blonde is more than just a burst of pink glitter. Beneath the comedy and catchy songs is a story about self-belief, judgement and learning not to shrink yourself to fit someone else’s idea of who you should be. Elle may arrive at Harvard with a chihuahua, a wardrobe full of colour and an army of doubters waiting for her, but she proves that kindness, intelligence and determination are not mutually exclusive.

That is what gives the show its lasting appeal. It is funny, glamorous and packed with musical theatre joy, but it also carries a message that still feels fresh: being underestimated does not mean you are incapable. Sometimes it simply means people have not caught up yet. With its mix of romance, courtroom chaos, friendship and fabulous fashion, Legally Blonde The Musical looks set to be one of the brightest and most uplifting tours of 2026. Whether you know every lyric already or are meeting Elle Woods for the first time, this is a show that promises big laughs, big heart and plenty of pink.

Legally Blonde The Musical comes to Nottingham Theatre Royal from 19 – 23 May 2026. Tickets are available from trch.co.uk. Not in Nottingham? Check the official tour website to find a performance near you.
